The PV258TF is a Conexant based CX23880 - CX23416 capture card designed for Microsoft Media Centre Edition 2004. It is supplied with driver only. There is no capture application supplied. Third party software such as SageTV Recorder, SageTV and Beyond TV 3 work perfectly with this product.

An IR Remote Control and USB IR receiver is also supplied.

The PV258TF is based on the Conexant Blackbird Design which is being used by a number of other manufacturers and has the makings of the best capture card I have seen in years.

The PV258TF is 2 capture cards in one. Firstly it is a WDM capture card and works brilliantly with many software encoder capture programs which allows you to capture in many formats including DIVX. 

The Realtime preview supplied by the CX23880 Video Decoder/PCI bridge was perfect. Very little CPU resources are used during preview which left plenty of resources for on the fly compression. No A/V sync problems occurred during our tests.

The PV258TF can also provide hardware encoding and multiplexing via the CX23416 when used with XPMCE2005, SageTV Recorder / Sage TV and many others.

The Remote Control and USB receiver controls all the functions in WINXP/XPMCE2004 and Sage TV version 2.1.

 The PV258TF has the ability to capture in Mpeg 1 but the supported capture applications only support Mpeg 2.

 Intervideo and Cyberlink products work perfectly with the PV258TF and the direct to DVD burn function from WinDVD Creator 2 is a breeze to use.

 The days are gone when you need to re encode your video capture before you create a DVD and forget about having to re-sync the audio.

 These problems simply don't occur with the PV258TF.
